October Update

Dear friends and neighbours,

Suddenly it is autumn moving into winter while were not looking and like the squirrels and the birds we seem to be scurrying about preparing our homes and gardens for what’s to come! We have a varied programme ahead for you and continue to thankyou for using the village hall whenever you can.

Thank you to those who, sharing the harvest festival event at Hayes farm early October with church bought food for the food bank, bought a delicious shared lunch and sang and contributed to the service. A lovely sunny day and happy atmosphere.

The variety night was deemed highly enjoyable and our thanks go again to the artists who performed for us and gave their time and enthusiasm to the evening. Jenny Newton is most talented and wrote some great pieces for us, jan Holloway played her tribute piece for Janet and left us in a trance. John Rielly turned into Dean Martin quite quickly together with a glass of red in hand! Jane and Nick Harris together with Mary sang some beautiful songs about the wye and Ludlow,John Bryan and his band were great, got most of us shuffling about in our seats! And John Mosedale was more amusing and professional than ever, his involvement with Richard Digence paying off. The team who put chairs and tables out and cleared away were brilliant and the interval supper was delicious, Thankyou to Di Albert for a comforting chilli! This was the 11th variety night, our intention to provide a variety of entertainment from a variety of ages.

In front we have a Ceidhl on 7th November(sure to warm you up) easy with a lead caller Peter Dunkerly! A ploughman’s at half time and a good bar. Hope you can come along!

The following week we have the AGM on 13th November at 6pm in the village hall with a glass of wine. It would be much appreciated if you can come along to hear about the year in the maintenance area of the hall and events. You may have some suggestions and ideas? This year we are loosing a good proportion of an excellent team most of which have been working on the committee during the past decade!

Yes of course we would welcome new faces and fresh ideas but no-one will be press ganged onto the committee. There has been some interested volunteers which is very refreshing! There are some trustees who are willing to remain a further year on the committee but will be looking for replacements.

On the Sunday 15th November, there is a BIG Breakfast from 10 till 12 am. Please come along and enjoy a treat!

On Wed 18th November, a new Pilates class will start from 4.30 to 5.30 pm Please come along if you are interested and give it a try.

Friday 4th Dec Light festival, starting at finger post at 5pm and walking up to the hall for 6 ish mulled wine and mince pie.

Sat 12th Dec Birmingham University Singers and Xmas meal for village in the hall.
