The village hall has functioned extremely well this year. We have a large amount of regular hirers of the hall and all seem very happy and content with their usage. There have been more bookings as well as extra from regular hirers.
We have tried to keep the hall in good order, clean and tidy, this does need regular supervision. Maintenance both in and out of th building have been continue and regular checks on electrics, hearing and alarm systems.
Extra lunches, polling usage, private parties and extra events have been in abundance, used by Tenbury associations, church functions, Kings College students, various music groups are all regular users. It has been very busy year as usual!
I would like to thank all members of the committee for their hard work and dedication, we have worked as a very close team which is a great and proud thing to say. I would like to especially thank Anne Dicken who has been a stalwart of the village. On behalf of the committee we thank you for years of hard work, interest and commitment in the village hall. Thank you Anne.
Other people who we couldn’t do without and help whenever needed are Peter Crownshaw, Eddie and Carolyn Belfield, Ann Wallace, Vernon Albert, Mike and Bridget Hughes.
The website continues to be a growing reference of all that foes on in the village and if regularly updated. Thank you Mark for you efforts.
Regular activities held in the village hall are Tenbury Floral Art, Women’s Institute, St. Michaels Singers, Social Dancing, Pilates, Mums and Tots and coffee morning.
Arranged monthly events have been extremely successful starting with a very entertaining Christmas village meal, an enjoyable old fashioned new years eve party (slight strictly style), a beetle drive, skittles night with ploughman’s and then we pushed the boat out with two shindig (live and local) productions. “It is now”, held in March was an entertaining play about a wedding, taking place in 1966 world cup day! We all felt we were at the wedding. The second was “Reynard the fox” in April, for the young at heart! We were quite surprised when the audience started to pour in. Both of these were successful and a treat to help and work with the acting teams, lovely people and a different event to offer!
We held an afternoon whist drive with tea and in May a most enjoyable pub games night with sausage and chips. There was a real buzz.
June brought the open garden weekend, where half a years organising was truly worthwhile!! People, weather, atmosphere and funds! Well done to all those who made this event such a hit.
In August we held a Sunday Prosecco and bacon bap morning, a new slant on a coffee morning which was most popular.
Out September Quiz night, hosted and presented by Graham Archer was most enjoyable and unusual. I like to think our recent Variety Night in October, last month was the best entertainment we have had in the village hall in a long! What an atmosphere.
As you know these events are important to our friends, neighbours who enjoy the social gatherings import to the hub of our village but also out funding at present is important towards the extension and refurbishment of the hall. We have planning permission, we are about to apply for the final stage of lottery funding to enable the project to go ahead. We are looking forward to this happening soon.
A busy and exciting programme of evens has been planned, just needs fine tuning.
Again without such a strong devout commitment from Jane, Mark, Anne, Pat, Geoff, Cherry, Robin, Ros, Mary, Mike, Janet and Ros, Thank you.
This concludes my report for 2019 and look forward to good things for the village hall in 2020.
